This article describes how to connect iPhone to iMac using iCloud, iTunes and Continuity. The iPhones running iOS 11 and up and Macs running macOS 10.1 are subject to instructions, except as noted.

How well they fit together is one of the best things about Apple computers. Apple’s Continuity functionality allows you to do tasks such as responding to iPhone calls on your Mac or writing an email to your iPhone on a Mac.

  1. Sign up on all computers on the same iCloud account.
  2. With the same Wi-Fi network, both users are linked.
  3. On all machines, switch on Bluetooth.
  4. On both devices, switch on Handoff. Go to Systems Preferences > General on a Mac and select Allow Handoff between your iCloud computers and this Mac.
